Sony's HDR-PJ230E Full HD Flash Memory Camcorder, in black, is a PAL-standard high-definition Handycam camcorder with an 8.9 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor. CMOS sensors are designed to be sensitive to low-light environments, and the back illumination even further enhances the sensitivity. You can record video in up to 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, and you can take 8.9 megapixel photos in up to 3984 x 2240 resolution. The video frame rate is selectable to up to 50 frames per second, which is useful for capturing sporting and other fast action events in crisp detail.

The camcorder features 8GB of internal flash memory and supports a wide selection of optional memory cards -- Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO HG Duo, Memory Stick PRO XC-HG Duo, and SD/SDHC/SDXC class 4 or higher cards.

The integrated lens is a wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens that opens wide to 2.1mm and can zoom in on a subject up to 32x. The image processor is Sony's BIONZ processor designed with a focus on color and detail. The camcorder has a 2.63" touchscreen LCD, a built-in speaker, and a headphone jack for monitoring sound while shooting.

A very powerful projector is built into the camcorder, fixed on the exterior of the LCD. It can be pointed at any light-colored wall to project your captured videos and photos. The projector works without any cables, and it quickly and very usefully lets you display your footage or photos in up to 100" diagonally. The camcorder's connections include an HDMI output that'll just as conveniently let you connect to HDTVs and view your videos/photos on a big screen.

A few intuitive features will help you manage the focus and stability of your shots, and one particular feature combination -- Face Detection and Smile Shutter -- automatically recognizes smiling faces and takes photos of them while the camera records video.

1080p50 Full HD Videos and 8.9MP Still Photos

This HD Handycam features an 8.9MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor that captures up to 1920 x 1080p50 resolution HD videos and 8.9MP 3984 x 2240 resolution still photos. CMOS sensors are designed for sensitivity in low-light environments, and the back-illumination further enhances the light sensitivity.

Built-In Projector

A built-in projector, which can be directed at any white or light-colored wall to display your videos at anytime, features screen coverage of up to 100" diagonally. You can project your footage directly from the camera and share your recordings with others without having them crowd around the LCD screen.
